Projects that make a difference
Project partners develop products, systems and business models, investigate key questions, and translate knowledge and findings into a form ready for the industry to use.
All projects are guided by the initiative's three overarching goals: embedding in practice, raising awareness and policy recommendations.
Boston Consulting Group
The Boston Consulting Group study examines the economic potential and strategic necessity of circularity and Cradle to Cradle approaches in the European electronics industry. The study is expected to be published at the IFA electronics trade fair (September 4–8, 2026, Berlin).
Free Software Foundation
Open and free software meets C2C design
In a case study, the Free Software Foundation Europe examines a speaker marketed as "Open Source Hardware" and uses it to show how closely Free Software and Cradle to Cradle belong together: openly shared design data and open collaboration create circular value in a way that closed competition tends to prevent.
Engagement Global
A project by the publicly owned organization Engagement Global puts the perspectives of the resource-rich Global South center stage. Local experts work with sparring partners to develop educational formats on resource justice and global supply chains. The results will be presented at IFA 2026 and the C2C Congress 2026.
Shift
The company Shift (known for their circular Shiftphone) is developing USB-C charging and data cables based on Cradle to Cradle principles.
Technische Universität Berlin
Students at TU Berlin are developing case studies on C2C in electronics, ready for the initiative to use directly.
Universität Twente & Technische Universität Berlin
Master's thesis
At the University of Twente, in cooperation with TU Berlin, a research project is examining the success factors and challenges of implementing Cradle to Cradle in electronics-industry organizations.
